Metal Glasses Polishing Knowledge

With the continuous development of production and science and technology, there are many kinds of metal polishing methods. According to the different polishing principles, there are mainly mechanical polishing, chemical polishing, electrochemical polishing, chemical mechanical polishing and so on. At present, traditional mechanical polishing is widely used in eyewear manufacturing enterprises.

Mechanical polishing in the special polishing machine, by very fine polishing powder and grinding surface generated between the relative grinding and rolling to eliminate wear marks, divided into rough polishing, medium polishing and fine polishing.

(1) Rough polishing

Rough polishing is the grinding, polishing or grinding of the surface of the frame with a hard wheel, so it is also called grinding or polishing. It is mainly used to remove burr, scratch, embroidery mark, oxide skin, sand hole, bubble, weld bead, weld slag and all kinds of obvious defects on the surface of the frame, so as to improve the surface smoothness and reduce the surface roughness.

The mirror surface after rough polishing can only reach the level or smooth degree, and can not get smooth surface, so still need to be polished and refined polishing.

(2) Medium polishing

Medium polishing is the further processing of the coarse-polished surface of the frame with a larger hardness and smaller size of the polishing wheel to remove the scratches left by the coarse polishing and obtain a smooth and moderately polished surface. The polishing process is omitted in the production of many glasses enterprises.

(3) Fine polishing

Fine polishing is the use of a fine polishing wheel (cloth wheel) processing, further reduce the surface roughness, in order to achieve the purpose of microscopic leveling, so that the metal surface leveling bright, so as to obtain a very bright surface, in order to meet the requirements of electroplating.

During mechanical polishing, the polishing wheel rotates at a high speed, and the friction between the surface of the metal mirror frame and the polishing wheel generates a high temperature, which improves the surface plasticity of the metal mirror frame.Under the action of polishing force, plastic deformation occurs on the surface of the metal mirror frame. The convex part is pressed and flowed, and the concave part is filled in, which further improves the fine uneven surface.During the polishing process, the brightening agent reacts with the polished metal to accelerate the speed of light.Mechanical polishing is essentially the removal of the oxide layer of the metal, so the amount of thinning is small.
